PERTH CITY FARM has relaunched our schools education program, providing hands-on learning opportunities for students of all ages and abilities to participate in and understand all aspects of the urban food cycle, from: farm to fork, seed to soil, cooking to compost & beyond.

FIRST BITE – Primary Schools

In our ‘First Bite’ program, young students can participate in an urban farming experience:

  • Planting seeds and seasonal food crops
  • Feeding urban chooks and collecting eggs
  • Worm farming
  • Feeding aquaponic fish
  • Harvesting fresh produce & preparing a healthy lunch in our community kitchen

DIG IN – Secondary Schools

Our ‘Dig In’ program invites secondary students to investigate the ecology of food production and how cities feed people:

  • Planting seasonal food crops
  • Mapping urban food systems
  • Composting for soil health
  • Harvesting fresh produce & preparing a healthy lunch in our community kitchen
  • Investigating Food Advertising
