Towards Zero-Waste
At PCF we advocate for a circular economy in which systems mimic those in nature; all materials are reused and reabsorbed to support life to come. We support the production and consumption of high-quality goods that can be reused, repurposed, and repaired to support a good quality of life for both current and future generations. We aim to foster a culture that recognises the true value of all planetary resources and uses them sparingly.
We promote the five R’s of Refusing, Reducing, Reusing, Recycling and Restoring to contribute to building a regenerative and circular economy. We maintain a community recycling facility to assist our community to reduce their ecological footprint. We collect 22 different items that aren’t collected in curbside waste schemes and distribute them to organisations that reuse or recycle them, with over 30,000 items diverted from landfill each year.
What you can drop off at our Community Recycling Hub
As a way to help the people of Perth live kinder lives we operate a collection hub for items that can be recycled, but not through your yellow-top bin.
You are welcome to use this community facility by:
- Bringing only the items listed below and putting them in the correct drawer
- Bringing small amounts at a time (think household, not workplace or classroom quantities)
- Checking this page before you come for what we’re currently collecting (it changes all the time!)
- Please consider if you need to use these products in the future – avoidance is better than recycling and will save you a trip next time!
Be a Recycling Legend and only bring exactly what we ask for. If bins are contaminated by things we don’t collect:
- The whole collection (yours and everyone else’s items) may get dumped in landfill and City Farm has to pay for that
- A volunteer will have to sort through everything to take out the contaminants – this can take up to 5 hours for just one type of coffee pod if someone has dumped the wrong pods.. not a fun job!
Recyclers are extremely particular about what they accept and put through their machines. Don’t assume that because an item looks similar to things we collect that it can be added in. Careless use of this hub could mean thousands of items in landfill due to your contaiminating items.
There are lots of picture examples of the correct items on the drawers in the hub. If you are collecting from a couple of people, perhaps you could print out these posters to put up in your own collection spot! Send us an email to [email protected] if you’d like your own copy

If our collection drawers are mixed with other brands of pods (even if they fit your Nespresso machine) we cannot sort through them individually. YOU might be the reason that the entire drawer (14kg of pods) goes into landfill

SUSPENDED PROGRAM
Unfortunately Colgate ended their funding, and we can no longer collect oral care items for free
We can, however, purchase an oral care 'zero waste box' from Terracycle, and the purchase cost
contributes to the covering the cost of recycling the items we send back.
We'd love it if you could support us in continuing to recycle oral care items so please donate below.
Every dollar goes directly toward recycling the contents of the box.
If you have large quantities of any of these items please get in touch and we can direct you to the organisation we send that item to, who may be able to accept your collection directly.
