Learn Connect Grow Series: Art of Frugal Hedonism Forum
February 14 @ 6:00 pm - 8:45 pm AWST
“Let’s say you could save money, inoculate yourself against many of the ills of modern life, live more lightly on the earth, and enjoy everything more on both the sensual and profound levels. Preposterous!”
So begins the popular book ‘The Art of Frugal Hedonism’ and we’re lucky to be joined by its author Annie Raser-Rowland for this special event. Annie will talk about the key concepts of the book, share some passages and lead us in some simple exercises so we can experience the delights on offer.
This is a great conversation topic for Valentine’s Day and we’ll focus on the hedonism part- awakening the senses and falling in love with the simple things in life. It will be inspiring, funny and maybe even life altering!
They’ll be plenty of time for connecting with like-minded folks, food and a bar featuring City Farm’s own produce. Chef Sophie Budd will whip up a delicious seasonal curry using some of City Farm’s own produce, which is available for pre-purchase ($15) with your entry ticket.
Given it’s Valentines Day we’ll also be running a ‘Weed Dating’ event just beforehand. Just like speed dating but we’ll do it over some market garden weeding, a great way to meet new people and make friends or maybe find love! Open to anyone 18+, all genders and sexualities welcome. A bit of fun!
This event is part of the ‘Learn Connect Grow’ series sponsored by the City of Perth, forum style events showcasing local sustainability or community initiatives and providing space for people to connect. All part of City Farm’s purpose of building connected communities living sustainably, and funds raised through this event help us do that.
