Humanity is operating outside the limits of the Earth system. We have exceeded six of the nine planetary boundaries, including biodiversity loss, climate, freshwater and land system change, biogeochemical flows, and novel entities.
As a global society, we need approximately 1.7 planets to provide the resources we’re consuming and to absorb our waste. In Australia, we are consuming our natural resources at a rate which would require 3.8 earths. And yet we only have one. The Australian environment is under severe pressure due to climate change, habitat loss, population growth, pollution, invasive species, and resource extraction.
The environmental costs of a ‘business as usual’ approach are clearly too high.
At PCF, we see the potential for a brighter future. The wellbeing of people and the planet are inextricably linked and we must adjust our lifestyles to respect, value and regenerate our natural world.
Through education and on-site demonstration, we empower individuals to become agents of change for the transition to a sustainable world. We share the skills, inspiration and community that people need to live sustainably.
