Growing Together: A Recap of Our Children’s Planting Festival

On a bright and beautiful day at Wellington Square, our Children’s Planting Festival blossomed into a joyful celebration of community, nature, and learning. Thanks to the generous support of so many wonderful partners and volunteers, the event was filled with laughter, discovery, and a shared passion for nurturing the earth.

A Community Effort.

This festival wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible efforts of Activate Tree Planting, who rallied an enthusiastic crew of volunteers. These hands planted seeds, ran creative activities, prepared nourishing morning tea, and managed all the essential logistics to keep the day flowing smoothly.

We’re also deeply grateful to City of Perth for their ongoing partnership and support. Their help with workforce, site preparation, soil care, and plant supply has laid the groundwork for what will soon become a thriving native garden – a green sanctuary for all to enjoy.

A Day Full of Inspiration and Fun

The festival was alive with creative energy, thanks to the amazing contributions from:

  • Activate Saplings, Tunesday, Cirquest, Yoga Journeys, and WA Loves Nature, who led fun and engaging activities that sparked curiosity and movement among kids and families.

  • Chloe who delighted everyone with her baking and mindful art sessions, offering a perfect balance of creativity and calm.

  • Educational and interactive stalls from Permaculture West, Save the Black Cockatoos, WA Wildlife, Envirobren, Handmade By Rocio, Kyal’s Coffee, and Binyaarns Bush Medicine provided rich learning experiences that connected attendees to the natural world around them.

Special thanks to EPIRB Hire for providing essential first aid support and the AED, and to Birdman and Trillion Trees for supplying gear and marquees that helped keep everyone comfortable and safe throughout the day.

Planting Seeds for the Future

The Children’s Planting Festival was more than just an event – it was a living classroom where families planted seeds, both literal and metaphorical. Together, we are fostering a love for the environment, encouraging stewardship, and nurturing a sense of belonging within our community.

We couldn’t be more proud to see so many smiles and muddy hands, knowing that these shared moments will grow into lifelong connections with nature and each other.
