Urban Orchard and Wetlands

Once an ugly disused concrete platform on top of a multi-story carpark, the Urban Orchard is now the flourishing and productive green heart of Perth.

City Farm staff worked with community volunteers to complete the initial plantings of the award-winning Urban Orchard back in 2010, and we’ve cared for the gardens for ten years. Our City Greening Coordinator worked in the gardens with volunteers throughout the week to grow food, share the harvest, interact with the public, and run educational tours through the space.

We also cared for the Urban Wetlands, a thriving fresh-water ecosystem, home to frogs, fish, waterbirds and thousands of insects. Our team kept this unique space- once a chlorinated water feature- healthy and beautiful.
